Aug & Sept PoA update, 11,557 PoAs were processed in Aug; 85% were registered but 15% were returned as they didn’t meet registration requirements. See common rejection reasons to avoid your PoA being returned. From Jan 2020 original PoAs no longer retained, Powers of attorney registered before 2009 are currently held in a secure, off-site storage facility. Up until now our policy has been to recall these from storage when we are notified of a terminating event and return the power of attorney document to the original sender. However, from January 2020 we will no longer retain and return original powers of attorney to the sender. All documents held in storage will be destroyed securely. Requests to Expedite a PoA Registration, At any given time there are thousands of PoA’s awaiting registration, in May 2017 this figure was approximately 17,000. We appreciate that in some cases there is a genuine need for a PoA, there is a greater chance of an expedite being sought. If you wish to make an application to have a PoA expedited you must provide a reason why your PoA requires to be processed more urgently than the other PoAs waiting in the queue.
