From 1 Aug 2026, the standard mileage reimbursement rate will increase. This applies to financial guardians using their own vehicles for travel when undertaking guardianship duties.
Financial guardians may claim:
- the public transport rate of payment which is 40p per mile for a car or motorbike.
or
- if we have accepted no alternative public transport is available, the rate is 55p per mile for a car or 41p per mile for a motorbike.
The standard mileage rate was reviewed following the UK Government’s recent increase to the Approved Mileage Allowance Payment rate.
