The Office of the Public Guardian was officially opened in 2001. In the intervening years the office has had to continually change and adapt to the present structure to enable it to meet the increasing business demands.

The office is headed by Sandra McDonald, the Public Guardian who is supported by her three Deputies, Stuart Fowler, who has overall responsibility for Investigations, Information, Admin/Finance and IT and Debra Allison and Rose Wawrzyniak, who both have responsibility for the case management of Powers of Attorney, Access to Funds, Guardianship and Intervention orders.
