Expedited renewal process - financial appointment
- At least one medical report is required from a registered and licensed medical practitioner. Where the adult's incapacity is the result of a mental disorder a registered and licensed medical practitioner approved under Section 22 of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 must complete the report. Click here to view the report AWI (1). The medical reports must be lodged with the sheriff court within 30 days of the adult being assessed. The Sheriff has discretion to accept medical reports if older than 30 days.
- The Public Guardian will also need to complete a report to comment on the conduct and suitability of the financial guardian. There is no prescribed period for the Public Guardian to complete the report, however as a matter of good practice, this report should be lodged with the sheriff court within 30 days of Public Guardian completing it. - The reports need to be lodged at the sheriff court, in the area where the adult lives, along with a minute or summary application.
